Education & Community

Rachael is an experienced lecturer and teacher who has worked across higher education, secondary schools, and vocational training. Her teaching spans a range of disciplines, including movement for actors, choreography for dancers and dance artists, theatre studies, directing, and the sociological and historical study of performance.

She is committed to nurturing creative voices and supporting artists at all stages of their development.

Commissions & Directing

Rachael creates original choreography and performance work for her company, Kansaze Dance Theatre, as well as for a range of external organisations across the arts sector.

Her work is driven by a strong interest in socio-cultural themes, blending theatre, film, music, and visual art. Performances take place in both traditional theatre settings and unconventional spaces, reflecting a dynamic and exploratory approach to making work.

Previous clients include Central School of Speech and Drama, Bristol School of Acting, Southbank Centre, and East London Dance.

 

Workshops & Masterclasses

Rachael delivers bespoke workshops that foster collaborative, process-led approaches to performance-making. Working across disciplines, she engages participants at all stages—from young people to established professionals.

Her workshops emphasise experimentation, critical thinking, and embodied storytelling.

Areas of focus include:

  • Storytelling through movement

  • Physical theatre practices

  • Directing methodologies

  • Choreographic processes

She has worked with organisations including the Young Vic, Roehampton University, Old Vic, Almeida Theatre, BRIT School, and the National Theatre.

International Work

Rachael’s international work centres on dialogue, exchange, and collaboration. She has developed cross-cultural projects, delivered workshops and lectures, and built partnerships with organisations globally.

Her collaborations include work with the British Council and Batalo East, reflecting an ongoing commitment to internationally engaged practice.
